Have you looked into a modern hi-fi amplifier of the type
preferred by electronic musicians (including guitar players)

(blew my mind, too. How well I remember the ol' favorite
6L6 in push-pull or, for real power, push-pull parallel....
yup!  Modern circuits use tubes along with transistors to
get that "analogue tube-sound")
