Hello all,

First I want to apolo... no I won't apologize for someone else.
Oregonians have had a live and let live attitude for years.Just
don't move here to stay.<g> Our British friends, sceptical
though they may be, are also right to ask questions. Using the
Queen's English too...

Arnold's description of a flock of whatever caused me to think
of a possible explination of the phemon. over the Grande Ronde
Valley-the name of the valley in which La - Grande sits. As I
sit through a nasty hailstorm and just knowing my Tulips are
getting zorched, I have to tell all of you I learned to fly
there, born and raised there, hunted ducks, and deer
there-though I don't do that any more. La Grande is on a major
Flyway for migratory fowl Swans to Eagles Hawks to Buzzards,
they all traverse the area. Sandhill Cranes, Large and
Flamingo-like coud even be ruddy/coppery under certian
conditions, I also wonder if Arnold didn't take into account the
relative speed of the "flock".

I have seen flocks from the air (been in the middle of a _large_
flock of Geese) Quite a surprise, too also, they were gone in a
flash-because of realtive speed, the rate at which you are
converging then traveling away from each other. I am not
questioning Arnold's sightings at La Grande, possibly be that he
was a little "spooked" by the sighting over Mt. Rainier. We'll
never know. I am not a Sceptic, but things do have a reasonable
explination sometimes.

GT McCoy
