I suppose someone should inform the USAF.

Their own description:

F-117A NIGHTHAWK

The F-117A Nighthawk Stealth Fighter Attack Aircraft was
developed by Lockheed Martin after the development of the
advanced stealth technology and the predecessor test
demonstrator aircraft, Have Blue, was carried out in secret from
1975. Development of the F-117A began in 1978 and it was first
flown in 1981, but it was not until 1988 that its existence was
publicly announced. The Nighthawk is the world's first
operational stealth aircraft. The US Air Force has 59 (now 58 -
tb) Nighthawks.

The F-117A aircraft is also known as the Frisbee and the
Wobblin' Goblin. The mission of the aircraft is to penetrate
dense threat environments and attack high value targets with
high accuracy. Nighthawk was in operational service during
Operation Desert Storm.

<end of quote>

Lacking supersonic capability and being as agile as a Radio
Flyer with wings, the Nighthawk couldn't catch my grandmother in
her '43 Chevy. (Of course, my grandmother used to run "moon" in
the N. GA. mountains.) The F-117 could successfully pursue most
WWII vintage aircraft, except maybe the P-51 Mustang; but,
lacking even a cannon, the pilot could do little more than
provide a Tom Cruise one finger salute upon intercept. It can
carry air-to-air missles inside the craft; but, it loses any
semblence of stealthiness when it opens its bomb bay doors and
will likely lose an dog fight with any modern fighter. The A6
Intruder would make a more formidable fighter; but, the Navy
knows it is a far better attack aircraft.

This thread is appropriately named.

I admire your paintings; but, you should consider an elementary
course in astrophysics.

Warmest Regards,

Terry
