Summer reading, perhaps?...

I noticed an interesting looking book on amazon.com called "Dark
Life: Martian Nanobacteria, Rock-Eating Cave Bugs, and Other
Extreme Organisms of Inner Earth and Outer Space".

"Readers take an adventure around the world--from Mexican
jungles to the satellites of Jupiter--in search of Dark Life,
mysterious subterranean creatures that may redefine the
conception of evolution."

Neat stuff! I'm certainly going to pick up a copy. You can get
yours for cheap ($16.10 == 30% off) at the exoScience-approved

And some quick news from Mars...

Firstly, the main antenna on the Mars Global Surveyor has become
stuck. This comes only shortly after its mapping mission began:

Secondly, there are firm plans to send a sundial to Mars on the
next mission, and then broadcast images of it in realtime on the
internet. Kind of silly, but if it keeps the kids happy...

Finally, you can check out the beautiful new images of Io and
Jupiter taken by Hubble at:

Always open to book suggestions,
Dave Watanabe
