Subject: Carl and Richard

I've been reading this list for about 3 years now and have
noticed a collective perspective that never fails to interest

I have read Richard C. Hoagland's book, "The Monuments of Mars:
A City on the Edge of Forever". I enjoyed it greatly and thought
what he had to say about Mars made sense. I have also read some
stuff by Carl Sagan on the search for extraterrestrial
life--that was the title of his last book I believe, and was no
so impressed.

My year-end question, therefore, is: why do most people on this
list dismiss almost everything Richard Hoagland writes, does or
says, while admiring (dare I say worship?)almost verything Carl
Sagan wrote, did or said?
