Yes, I was the same way, Roger... I loved baseball, but didn't
have the extra qualities to be great at it...I was only only
average...

Yet, taught my son to play and he was much better than average.
But due to his small stature, he choose music over sports, and
graduated from college with a music degree, which led to a
modeling and acting career...he is only in the early stages of
both, so is not yet known to the average person..."time will
tell" if he is successful in the field he has chosen...<g> I
know this is irrelevant, but I was also a Boy Scout. I wasn't
very good at that either...but I did earn several merit badges
and was assistant Troop Leader...<g> Just a little trivia which
has nothing to do with anything...ha, ha, ha...

I can't help but agree with you Roger...however, I do have
videos of informtion and artifacts which I have had for years
and not shared with the whole of Ufology. I have shown some of
this material to people who I am close to... One example of one
who has seen some, not all of my material is Tom Theofanous,
whom Errol knows very well. You may wish to coax Tom into a
discussion of this... whether he will participate, I cannot say.
Errol knows me...I have been to Toronto on three different
occassions.... Here again this has nothing to do with
anything...

I respect your right to those opinions Roger...But, unless I or
anyone else has the materials in our physical possession, we can
only make some tpe of choice...I choose to wait and see. I am
sure that this whole phenomena will be explained in another 50
or a hundred years...I may not be alive to see it, but if
history is any type of forbearer, there will be someone alive
who will say: "Mike Christol chose a wait and see attitude. If
he were alive now, he would have seen his faith justified."...
Whether that be they are real and the cases were real, or they
were all hoaxes...either way, I will have been vendicated for
not passing judgement....

If I _had_ had a personal experience in this field, then without
a doubt I would be standing on it and allowing others to believe
as they choose.

I dodge nothing...I will give you my honest opinion...but I
cannot tell you I know something I do not. I will not tell you
something as fact that I know is not...I Sir, will not lie about
something.

Example: I have a friend who is blind. He has known me for 30
years and loves me like a brother. One day, while playing
around with him, I told him I had seen a UFO land in a cornfield
in the boondocks outside our town...I said I had watched from
about 50 yards away as a door opened and a ramp slid down to the
ground.. there was a white light inside the craft... I told him
that suddenly, a being appeared in the door and walked down the
ramp...etc., etc... My friend believed every word I told
him...He sat there hanging on every word I spoke...He trusted
me...

Well, Roger, I finally stopped and told him it was all just a
joke. The look on his face which lasted only a moment, and then
broke into laughter, was one I shall never forget...

Sure he thought it was funny, but, Roger, From that point on, I
created a situation to fill his mind called "doubt."

No matter that I told him it was a joke. If I were to actually
have that type of experience again, and tell him; even if he
said he believed me, I know there would always be that little
bit of doubt in his mind as to whether I was telling him the
truth or just telling him another story.

I do not ever want to see that look on the face of anyone I know
or share UFO information with again, as long as I live.

Thus, I will not make claims which I have not experienced. As
far as opinions go...they are of no good...just speculation. I
don't have the billions of dollars necessary to "verify" all of
the info we receive on a daily basis...if I did, I would. I can
be very choosy...I have been in this field long enough to choose
whom I talk to and whom I ignore....but, Roger, I do not wish to
be that way...I think the greatest thing we can bring to this
list is "UNITY." Good manners and a good attitude are essential
to doing this...

>I know of no "facts" or "evidence" uncovered by anyone on this
>list, regardless of their "field work", that has added to our
>over all knowledge anymore than some of the "armchair" UFO
>enthusiasts that also participate. In fact, some of the
>"armchair" members have actually brought up some interesting
>things for discussion. So when Roger asks, "Who the hell are you
>to judge me?" he has a legitimate point and I think you owe him
>an apology.

So, if I were to say that "I have metal samples from something
which allegedly crashed in Northern Indiana back in the 70's",
that would not apply as proof either, would it? I thought not.
So, I won't say it...<g>

>But then what do I know? I don't have the "field" experience
>that you do so I guess my opinion means nothing, also.

Roger...your opinion is just as important as mine....I have no
problem with opinions. What I have is trouble with
Authoratative Figures, who profess to know what is right and
good for all of us and indicate that we should accept their
input as gospel.... Please forgive me if I present that type of
attitude. It is not intended...<smile>

No, feel free to chew on my ears any time you wish...I'm, a big
boy, I can take it...but, know, I can give as good as I get...
sometimes better. <g> ha, ha, ha....

I don't mind double intimidation, from both parties...but I do
mind intimidation from one source only, with the undertones
which imply that you had better not reply, but keep your mouth
shut and accept it...P--- on that!

>Roger Evans

I am proud to know you Roger Evans...you are not afraid to say
what you feel, even if you suspect there will be a big discussion
to follow....

Keep it up...you are good for Ufology.
I once told Phil Klass the same thing...
I told him if it wasn't for him, we UFO
investigators would be fruther off in left
field than we already were...
He looked shocked...but then smiled...
Regardless of what most think of Phil,
I like him...he can be very entertaining
when you get him in a group discussion..

For anyone who is reading this and was in Alburquerque, NM, at
the 1992 MUFON Convention, and happened to be in the bar area,
with Don Ecker, Robert Dean, Phil Klass and others, will know
what I am talking about...Phill was very entertaining that
night...<g>

Ok...take care Roger.

REgards, Mike
