Excellent post Bruce and a fine theory. My view is since we
know that human beings have strange experiences, whether it's
due to the influence of space aliens, temporal lobe misfiring,
psychoactive consumption, fasting, or the paranormal, it is
impossible to come to any firm conclusions about some base
reality surrounding the mythologies of early man.

If you put forth the idea that religous history is in fact the
product of the influence of another species, replete with nuts &
bolts UFOs, I maintain a fairly homo sapians centric view. What
I mean is when it comes down to a choice between gods/aliens and
humans, my loyalty lies with my own species, warts and all.

Afterall, if you choose to postulate a theory that some of these
old gods were in fact objectivly 'real', then we must examine,
critically, their actions. And their actions as recorded in our
myths, if taken literally, are a record of violent genocide
against humanity. (Put your Bible aside and simply see the
recent animated childrens film 'Prince of Persia' for just a few
examples of how brutal these OI's can be.)

These don't sound like spiritually advanced folks I want to
welcome with open arms (see Bramley's 'The Gods of Eden'). Call
me xenophobic, or just call me cautious, but when Jehovah starts
flitting about in his UFO and issuing a fresh set of edicts, I'm
going to be mighty pleased if the USAF has some top secret
aircraft ready to take him on.
