Rebecca, Offhand, no. But the perceived threat would be just as effective. Having never taken a loyalty oath I can't speak from experience, but I'd wager that such an oath entails some sort of penalty for breaking that oath. And I'm sure that most of the folks 'in the know' have taken a loyalty/nondisclosure oath or something to that effect. From a mundane standpoint, I know this effect is alive and well in business having seen it first hand. A few of our customers are major oil refineries. One of them planned a major expansion to which we were privy and hoped to profit. They wanted to keep this information under wraps. Somehow, word of the proposed expansion leaked to the industry press and the news was soon all over the place. The customer blamed us, specifically one of our representatives, and banned him from attending any more meetings, ever. Further, they insinuated that our contracts were in jeopardy because of the leak. No one knows who leaked the information, but we got blamed in any event. It's a unique experience that definitely gets your attention. Best regards, Ron.
