I found the following small item in the Santa Fe New Mexican,
July 23, 1947:

LONGMIRE, Wash., July 23. (UP) -- A search party trudged up
the ice-covered soutwest slop of Mt. Ranier today to investigate
airplane wreckage tentatively identified as a Marine transport
missing since Dec. 10 with 32 persons aboard.

The wreckage was sighted through binoculars by Assistant Chief
Ranger Bill Butler of the national park service last Monday
[July 21]. Butler said parts of the aircraft were widely
scattered and appeared to be at the 10,000-foot level on South
Tahoma glacier.

Obviously there were no survivors.

Hope this helps.
