Yes, David, synesthesia has been mentioned. As I understand the
term, it refers not just to sound evoking colors, but any sense
evoking another one -- sounds evoking textures, light evoking
smells, touches evoking light, tastes evoking sounds.

I've never heard that there were any consistent synesthetic
relationships. A woman touches me, and I sense the taste of
rich, deep plums....she touches someone else, and for them it's
