Censorship of alleged secrets is not new. From the Prelude to 'The Puzzle Palace' by James Bamford, he writes of the War Department trying to suppress the book 'The American Black Chamber' in 1930. From Chapter, 'Targets' He also writes of ITT, Western Union, and RCA agreeing to Provide intercepted communications for Project Shamrock.. ASA (Armed Forces Security Agency) headed Project Shamrock. ASA later was absorbed into the NSA (National Security Agency.) In a meeting on 16 December 1947, with approval of the US Attorney General, Secretary of Defense Forrestal met with the heads of these companies to assure them that the US Attorney, Attorney General Tom Clark -Justice Department, Under authority of President Truman, would provide legal Protection to these companies. Their fears were valid. Project Shamrock broke numerous laws, the Constitution, and these Companies would be subject to lawsuits if the Justice Department, And Defense Department didn't cover for them. Section 605 of the Communications Act of 1934 Prohibited interception of communications. A little more than 9 months later, Forrestal resigned. A week later he was admitted to the Bethesda Naval Hospital. Diagnosed as suffering from anxiety, severe depression, and acute paranoia and talked of 'unidentified people trying to get me,' and 'conspiracies.' Was his involvement with the MJ-12 committee the conspiracy he was so afraid of? He was treated for 'involutional melancholia psychosis.' In the early morning hours of Sunday, 22 May, Forrestal sat alone in His hospital room, copying onto sheets of paper the brooding lines from Sophocles, 'Ajax,' - "No quiet murmer like the tremulous wail," he wrote "of the lone bird, the querulous night-" The word nightingale was left unfinished. (Allegedly) Forrestal walked across the hallway into a small kitchen, tied one end of his dressing gown sash to a radiator just beneath a window, and knotted the other end around his neck and jumped from his 16 th floor window. Was the 'murmer' - the voices he heard from a recovered live alien? Was the 'tremulous wail' - the his memory of this event? Was the 'lone bird' - the crashed UFO? Was the 'querulous night' - the night he was informed of the crash at Roswell? Stanton Freedman, Timothy Good, Edgar Fouche (myself) and others have written and pondered about what really happened to Secretary Forrestal. I speculate in 'Alien Rapture' with Brad Steiger, my co-author (of Project Blue Book) that Forrestal was murdered because he 'couldn't handle the truth.'
