The always amusing Mr. Alevy just can't let it alone, can he? He
has never let the absence of a shred of evidence discourage him
from making ever wilder claims and accusations. But you've got
to give the guy credit for honesty. After repeatedly failing to
produce anything that would remotely persuade any reasonable
observer that Hynek and Larsen (not to mention the other
ufologists [such as Dick Hall, Jan Aldrich, and me], about whom
Gary has hinted darkly) were sinister agents, he now concedes as
much. How else to interpret his statement that it's up to his
critics to prove _their_ case, when Gary has yet to make one of
his own?

If we were to pursue Gary logic, I could pronounce the earth
flat and announce to the rest of you that the burden of proof is
on you to show otherwise. Like Gary, I could sneer at your
responses, dismiss them as uninteresting or irrelevant, assert
that I have devastating evidence which I can't go into now
because I'm saving it for an explosive book to appear at an
unspecified time from an unidentified publisher. I could
further intimate that my critics are in the employ of the Round
Earth Agency, of which Allen Hynek was a suspected member.

Yup, folks, I've just exposed the conspiracy and proved the
case. And to think that -- with the possible exception of Gary
-- all of you out there spent your lives thinking the earth
isn't flat as a pancake. The truth at last.
