Thank you Tim for your illuminating look into your research. It was very interesting. However, I would like to address your concerns regarding our article on Alfred Loedding. The IUR article was intended to introduce Alfred Loedding to the ufological community and outline, briefly, his contributions to the first official investigation of unidentified flying objects under the auspices of Project SIGN. Unfortunately, the article, as to your view, did not go far enough. It was never meant too for several reasons. First, space in CUFOS' fine publication (IUR) is limited and necessitates editing. Secondly, Mr. Hall and myself will be writing a complete and factual book detailing Alfred Loedding's life and the development of low aspect ratio, VTOL, etc. aircraft. This endeavor takes a great deal of time and not all family members have been interviewed as yet, but we are working on this aspect as quickly as possible. To date, new information has been obtained and is being reviewed and discussed between Mike and myself. This information will be released to our peers as soon as practical. Interviews with surviving members of the Project SIGN team continue at this time. New information has been obtained as to how the AAF/USAF operated during this time frame and takes time to assess. This information, in an synopsis form, is contantly shared with several Lists and are available to anyone who asks. Mike and I do keep several items confidential until such time as secondary confirmation can be obtained. As to your work in research regarding low aspect ratio work involving the development of flying disc-type aircraft under the aegis of the U.S. military, you are correct in your assumption that some work was being done during this time frame (1947/48/49). Alfred Loedding had prepared actual working models of disc-type aircraft that were tested at Wright Field. However, the entire story as to whether these type aircraft went beyond models and a singular flying model, is still open to interpretation. We feel that to speculate that the military had functioning disc-type aircraft in abundance to account for all sightings, is just not true. Albeit, even today, if the military had disc-type aircraft in development there is no documentation, etc. that shows such craft were in sufficient numbers to account for all such sightings of UFOs today. Mike and I are extremely cautious in our research. We, of course, are not above making a few errors as we go along, however, you will not find in our work sheer speculation, but speculation that is based upon enough documentation, etc. to warrant a best-guess scenario. As our research progresses we find that we have to adjust our previous views and are sure that this will continue well into the future. If you, or anyone on the Lists wish to know more about Alfred Loedding and the 1947 Flying Disc Wave, our general book entitiled: Alfred Loedding and the Great Flying Saucer Wave is available. Cost is $21.95 post paid domestically and $27.00 Foreign orders from: Wendy Connors, P.O. Box 8552, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87198. We are almost out of copies, so orders should be sent asap. We have not made a decision on whether to reprint at this time.
