Kevin, I apologize if I sounded angry. I was merely annoyed at
what seemed to me your ignorance of or disregard for my
particular position on the abduction question, which is not the
same as Hopkins's or Jacobs's (though I like and admire both of
them and am proud to call them friends). My writing on the
subject of the general phenomenon has always been carefully
qualified and nuanced, to reflect the agnosticism that is, in my
judgment, the only intellectually defensible posture any of us
can take at this juncture. Even Phil Klass understands that my
position is not synonymous with the abduction-literalist view.

That said, my friend, let us go on to more cordial and
productive discussion. And of course I look forward to reading
your book.

All best,

Jerry Clark
