We might, on the other hand, generate understanding regarding
who's been duplicitous, canted, and suspect as a Posner type
apologist for a, until very recently, weakening party line.

That's bad debating technique to be squirming obstinately
against the factual. There is evidence that would convict at a
murder trial. The Cernan expression as recorded is accurate or
not. I suspect it is accurate. This abundantly justifies your
discomfiture as evidenced by the squirm.

 >Have we established that EVERY ONE of us on this

 >accurate reflection of what Cernan really said or meant?

Ahh! The inevitable leap to the absurd! Our 'agreement' with the
veracity of 'articles' is not the issue and is not required. Is
the expression in question accurate in spirit? No need to
attempt impossible agreement on the absurd.

 >Just trying to establish the consensus here.

No you're not, sir! You're here to fan the bottom, complicate
the issue, and distract from the facts, whatever the hell
_those_ things are. No, I don't think consensus is quite the
priority with you that you would like us (uh... me!) to think.

Conceded? Sometimes there actually _is_ a temperature inversion
Mr. Oberg... next!

I wouldn't get too excited about it, Mr. Oberg. A lot of the
broadbrushed critical paint sticks to you, you front for a
suspect worldview... forgetting that I might front for an
ignorant one... regardless, I would _do_ something about my
ignorance, sir.

 >Third, here's another piece of original research on another
 >'famous' pro-UFO quote from Wernher von Braun. Your reaction (or
 >lack of reaction) will be interesting.

You're using the convenient microcosm to prove the macrocosm,
Mr. Oberg. You do that, a lot. In the aggregate, you know that
the preponderance of quality evidence demonstrates a clear need
for the serious, passionate, and conscientious, but broadbased
(of course, public)... scientific investigation of UFOs. Your
agenda is _no_ investigation. You denounce, confuse, and
repudiate investigation, sir. Your reputation precedes you.

You may be right about Werner, yet! But, so? Your explanation
does not scale up even to the little that has been found out in
50 years of nebulous investigation...

Point a finger at Rebecca and feel three waggle ominously back
at yourself... (and mine point back with some pride, if you were
wondering).
