Subject: George Harrison Dies At 58

Hello All,

Off-topic and 'unrelated' but I just wanted to post something
publicly about this tragic loss for us all.

George Harrison, the Beatles' quiet lead guitarist died at 1:30
p.m. yesterday (Nov. 29) at a friend's Los Angeles home
following a battle with cancer. Harrison's wife, Olivia
Harrison, and son Dhani, 24, were with him.

Music has always been an important component of my life. I have
been an active/playing drummer for 41 years. I taught myself
guitar 18 years ago. Any musician will tell you how _personally_
important all of the people we try to emulate as we learn can
be. While learning, you can become so intimately familiar with
someone's music that you feel a kinf of bond and a kinship with
them that goes well beyond what can be experienced by mere
listening. George was one of those many influences on me as I
struggled to master the guitar. As with many others I have taken
from him in order to create/find my own voice on the instrument.
George has touched more lives in ways that are not easily seen.
Touched lives in ways that go very deep into the soul. Another
light has gone out.

The Beatles, (especially John) mean a lot to me. I feel George's
loss as if it had been a family member. I'm sure we'll all miss
him very much.
