And the award for understatement of the century goes to...
drumroll... Steve!

Whoever drew the source maps that Admiral Piri drew from had an
understanding of latitude and longitude. (I call him Admiral
Piri because his name was Piri. Reis was not part of his name,
but Re'is means "Admiral" in old Turkish. So Piri Re'is means
"Piri the Admiral".)

Latitude and longitude! Such a projection requires very precise
measurements that include precise time. The very existence of
this map implies the development of very precise chronometers in
ancient times. Compared to a chronometer useful for precise
mapping, the Antikithera device is a child's toy.

As for the Library of Alexandria, it is my understanding that
this famous library had deteriorated seriously and lost much of
its collection well before that final fire.

Personally, I believe we will one day find the proof of a highly
advanced but geographically limited civilization that thrived
and went far in the sciences before the last major ice age. We
have not yet found the evidence of this civilization because we
have not yet looked in the right place. Maybe the evidence is
under the very ice that's missing from old Piri's map.
