Thanks for the update, Lan. A notable admission:

"All our press products are based on standard DTMs derived in an
automated way, and which do not match scientific standards
necessarily, and are not error-checked. We understand that this
might have caused some disturbances in the case of the Cydonia
release."

Neither of the articles I saw in Sky & Telescope and SkyNews
magazines mentioned the vertical exaggeration at all.

Also, for some interested List-members who may have missed this,
the Face was also just re-imaged by Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter,
with the highest resolution so far, down to mere centimetres in
the largest version of the image (303.4 MB):

I've seen surprisingly little discussion of this so far, perhaps
because the Face does appear more natural-looking (i.e. a mesa),
the higher the resolution gets (small boulders can also be seen
scattered across it in places). But also, again no evidence seen
of the supposed "horn"...

I'd still like to see MRO re-image other nearby formations
though, the D&M in particular.
