Some of the largest designs, if done manually, would require a
team of up to maybe a dozen people or so, but probably not any
more than that, based on demonstrations done. The largest one in
England this year was just over 1,000 feet long with over 100 or
so circles in it.

Nope. Only the occasional time when hoaxers have been seen or
caught. But there was this interesting surveillance-related
report concerning the formation I referred to above (2 parts):
