John, you may have solved the 40 year-old plus Heflin UFO case!

These Gauge 1 or 1:32 scale train wheels on this old tank car
are not only solid filled but have exactly the same shape, ratios
and special features of Heflin's flying saucer! This is a very
important find as it confirms of the claims made by 'Anonymous'
(see below) and supports the opinion by many that this very
unique flying saucer does indeed look like a model train wheel!

"A 1/32 scale drive wheel of a model steam locomotive" is
precisely what the 'craft' is. Particularly insightful is his
observation "You can just make out the wheel hub protruding off
the face of the wheel."

Find the earliest generation print and enhance further. Dig a
little deeper into pre-1960 toy/model trains and you will find
the exact part used.

Combine 1) John's findings with 2) Tim Shell's airshow donut
hole formations with 3) brave Ed Riddle's interviews - and the
40 year old Heflin "mystery" is solved!

For those that still have doubts, they can take measurements off
the close-up image of the Gauge 1 or 1:32 scale train wheels on
this other old Marklin model steam engine. Finally we have a
model train wheel which fully agrees, within measurement errors,
with all the things our friend Martin Shough noted about the
Heflin flying saucer.

Now that we have this reasonable doubt (if not the smoking gun
itself), I think I can safely predict what the verdict will be
after ufology finishes its work with the reopening of the Heflin
UFO case.

On April 14 I plan to meet with Jeff Stimson, Sales Manager for
Marklin at a special show and presentation he will give at the
Marriott Hotel in Vaughan (a city north of Toronto). I will
bring along my vernier caliper to take more precise measurements
of Marklin's 1 Gauge or 1:32 scale wheels. I will reserve
judgement on whether or not I believe Rex Heflin was the
purpetrator of a clever hoax - the first and very likely not the
last, even among the UFO images still accepted as authentic by
ufologists - until then.
