Ed,

Frank Drake was invited in 2001 at the San Marino symposium in
Italy. He was a speaker on the first day, devoted to SETI, but
he stayed for the next two days - devoted to UFOs.

His attitude was one of skepticism, but he was obviously
interested.

I was at his table, at the hotel, when Nick Pope explained to
him how he came to be convinced of the reality of UFOs, during
his tenure at the MOD UFO desk. I even took their picture
together.

We had another long talk in the car driving us back to the
airport, again with Nick, and I can assure you that he is
interested in UFOs.

That does not seem to square with skepticism on star travel.
And, please, don't tell us that maybe he believes in
ultraterrestrials!

I am pretty sure that he is not the only scientist to study UFOs
discreetly.

Gildas
