I haven't checked my post-meeting notes, but from memory, my
various discussions with Frank Drake centered on the Rare Earth
hypothesis (Ward and Brownlee's book had only recently been
published), the extent to which the Drake Equation might need to
be rethought in the light of discoveries of increasing numbers
of extrasolar planets, and the theory that some apparent
extrasolar planets might actually be brown dwarfs. We may also
have discussed the NEO threat (I'm an Associate Member of
Spaceguard UK).

But as Gildas says, we certainly did discuss UFOs. While I'm
going to keep the details of this private, Gildas is correct
when he says that though skeptical, Frank Drake seemed genuinely
