It should be noted that Drake was in the navy doing work on
electronic Counter Measures(which means he had a high level
security clearance)after his BS degree before going to Harvard
and working on his PhD.

He also was in the Naval Reserve for at least 10 years and was
in Communications Unit No. 1 in Cambridge under Donald Menzel
who was commander of that Unit. Most Naval Reservists did summer
projects for the Navy. He was encouraged in his first SETI work
(Project Oz) by MJ-12 member Lloyd  Berkner.
