I'm so confused :)

I recall growing up learning about light speed and how it could
never be achieved due to such things as once one gained that
threshold one would gain infinite mass and infinite density.

That sounded scary!

Then all the IBM brain kids teamed up with the av students would
barge into the art room while we drew cartoons of Star Trek and
Lost in Space, declaring that no one would survive such speeds.

We, the imagining ones, would toss their comments to the wind
and kept on writing and drawing.

Now as an adult the debate continues.

Now I'm told that we could get to light speed but we don't have
the know how to keep a crew alive.

That a crew going 30 light years would age a month or year on
board such a craft while we on Earth would get those 30 years.
Would such a speed slow the age of the crew only? What about the
equipment?

Do star ships live forever?

What about the fuel? Does the fuel age slower or burn slower?

How the heck do they do that?

Finally, how close to achieving this feat are we?

Best,

Greg
