I suspect that someone or some organization knows who all the witnesses are, at least those who have talked to someone/anyone about what they saw. I suspect that someone knows whether or not photos were taken and by whom. I suspect that the investigation is ongoing "sub rosa". Recall the testimony of John Callahan who was responsible for investigating the Japan Airlines case 20 years ago. Twenty years ago at this very time ("as we speak".. but 20 years ago). According to Callahan the White House was interested and other "spooky" organizations including the CIA. Whether or not non-FAA investigations are occurring is a matter for speculation. But one this is certain: the reporter (Hilkevitch) and the newspaper were suprised that this story has "legs." Hilkevitch wrote a third story about it two days ago. For any non- continuing or "single event" story to last a week is surprising, and this applies doubly to UFO stories. In the Japan Airlines case the story lasted for several months, but only because the FAA investigation kept the news interest.
