Subject: Do We Really Want To Know?

I've had to ask myself again whether we, the humans, really want
to know the truth about the government's UFO secrecy agenda.

Do we really wanna know?

What if the ever present extraterrestrial hypothesis is or isn't
true and the truth is less spectacular, less stress relieving,
than we have assumed?

Maybe we don't want to know the truth. Maybe we need to have a
mystery that has so far stimulated our imaginations and brought
forth such research and entertainment and cultural stimulation?

If there's no life on Mars, no more books about daring
adventurers encountering lost civilizations like Edgar Rice
Burroughs' John Carter of Mars stories.

H.G. Wells might disappear into the past. Orson Wells would
become nothing more than a fable.

If the ETH is true what if the aliens are boring and bland. What
if they only like oatmeal and Mongolian War Chant music?

What if we find out the universe is full of cultures that are
about as exciting as watching one's socks dry?

In the worse case scenario what if we find out everything we
hold dear that gives us that extra umph that separates us from
the lower apes isn't an umph at all?

We'd now have limits and barriers and no more room for wonder
and imagination.

Didn't Socrates say something once about the value of wonder?

I can see the headlines now,

Universe Boring Says Alien Ambassador!

Cosmos Already Populated! Denizens Demand No More Rock And Roll
Radio Transmissions!
