It has been my experience from polls taken after my lecture that
90% of UFO sightings aren't reported, primarily because of the
fear of ridicule. Since the Tribune treated the story with
respect, I would expect that encouraged other witnesses to come
forth. Furthermore once the media found out that the Trib story
received more hits (over a million) than any other story ever
on their website, and that it led the count 4 days running, and
that Hilkevitch was contacted from all over the world, that
certainly would have encouraged many other media to treat the
subject more fairly.
