I read the book shortly after it came out and retain it in my
small library. It is quite interesting and has a lot of
information that most had never considered. Dr. Sauder lived in
Maryland at the time that the book was written, I believe, and
he mentioned a few areas around the Washington DC region that
are intresting. I can say that there are a lot of military
related properties tucked away in the DC area, and most date
back to the early days of the Cold War. Minuteman Silos used to
ring the City, and they were essentailly built below the
surface, as were many of the managing facilities. The mountains
west of the City has been used since World War I for many
purposes, including undergound facilities for Congress and the
President (now declassified because of media attention in the
90's).

I tried to contact Sauder at one point to see if I could set up
a small meeting with some local researchers to share information
and ideas, but that never came off. I believe I heard that he
moved from the Maryland area, but he's still active in the genre
at some level.
