I had real trouble with this supposed Apollo 20 film, given that
there never was an Apollo 20. It was cancelled a few years
before its scheduled launch date of 1974, along with Apollos 18
& 19.

Then I looked again at the captioning on YouTube (can't get the
audio to play properly) and I think this is just a
misunderstanding because the crew communicator repeatedly uses
the comms code "twenty" when replying. (Strangely there is a
fleeting title shot at the beginning of the clip mentioning
Apollo 11 but probably this is just because some clips have been
edited together at some point). So it could still be genuine
film from some earlier Apollo mission that the uploader has got
confused about. Terry is right. The close-ups later in the clip
leave no doubt at all that if it's genuine and unadulterated
there really is a large artefact lying on the lunar surface.

Is it real? Well, there definitely is an "object" there on the
moon. The location given on the YouTube clip is 17.3 deg S,
117.62 deg E. Go to the image atlas of the Lunar and Planetary
Institute, a NASA research subsidiary in Houston

This is a stereo pair taken on Apollo Mission 15, revolution 38,
centred on 19 deg S and 117.5 deg E, in the region southwest of
DELPORTE, and north of IZSAK (presumably crater names). This
panorama includes the coordinates given on the alleged film. And
there it is. You can't miss it.

Just to add that I've made a stereo pair of an enlarged detail
of the object from these NASA images, and I have to admit that
it really does look like a long shark-shaped object resting in
the crater with its nose elevated. I don't really know what to
make of this. If anyone's interested in having a look I can send
the stereo pair privately - just let your eyes cross to
superimpose the two shots (a beer might help) and the relief
stands out. I'd like to know if anyone has any ideas. If this is
what it appears to be - and not just a freak of shadow
perspectives - then at the least it seems to be an extraordinary
bit of geology or planetology. Has anyone heard about this
apparent object or formation before?
