Please note that the phrase "not beyond our technical knowledge"
is a typical misleading USAF comment.

I worked for Westinghouse on real nuclear rocket Engines which
were actually ground tested in the late 1960s. They aren't
beyond our knowledge. I worked on a study of nuclear fusion
rockets in the early 1960s. They weren't beyond our knowledge.

This does not mean we are operating fleets of fission or fusion
rockets. I discussed magnetoaerodynamic propulsions systems for
use in the atmosphere in my congressional testimony in 1968.
That doesn't mean we are flying them.

It takes a huge effort to go into serial production. It cost 10
billion dollars to develop the Stealth Fighter and it was used.
