You are right about the original statements. However, that is
such ancient history and so long since resolved that I had
forgotten all about it. I have seen the original witness
statements, which as I recall were all(?) some(?) unsigned and
very preliminary.

Col. Halt, who ought to know, has not the slightest doubt about
Penniston's honesty and integrity. Halt himself, in his famous
MOD statement, downplayed the events in the woods that he
experienced. I don't know this, but I wouldn't be surprised if
it was Halt that advised the men to do the same.

Ever since he went public Penniston has been very consistent in
his testimony.
