Apparently the Chinese made determined efforts to get hold of classified terminal-phase targeting software for the Pershing II as part of developing even better kit for their new DF-21D, widely touted as a revolutionary ship-killer but suggesting capabilities that are said to be alarming to US defence planners across a wider conflict theatre. It's possible, my correspondent points out, that the grids could even scale representations of actual city street plans - and it would be interesting if someone could identify them!
