It was suggested above that the orbs in the videos may have come
from a program of research to discover how to generate such
things. I've since discovered that there is good reason to
believe that the UK MoD has carried out such research in the
past decade.

The report "Unidentified Aerial Phenomena in the UK Air Defence
Region: Executive Summary", written in 2000, clearly expresses
the MoD's interest in developing technology to create plasma
balls in the sky to act as radar decoys, etc. MoD technology
managers had already been briefed at that time regarding the
