I think I got this back to front ('surely not!' came the
astonished chorus ;-)). It's the squared momentum that's
negative, but the equation can be rewritten to express the root
mass as positive, and this is what is _usually_ done. The thrust
of the tachyonic neutrino theorists has been to see this as a
'fix' too far and accept an imaginary mass, implying speed >c.



And a CERN paper apparently from 1998 (oddly, 2008 appears inside
the paper)
