Unfortunately, the only thing he proved, once again, is how not a one of these Washington pundits has a clue about how to ditch the script. He wrapped his argument around the Fermi Paradox, which suggests if there were intelligent life out there we would=92ve known about it by now. Krauthammer says we would=92ve known about it by now thanks to =97 and he=92s serious =97 SETI=92s search for non-random radio signals. We can argue until our faces explode about the merits of SETI=92s doctrinaire prescription for discovering our galactic counterparts. But Krauthammer=92s larger conventional point is that intelligence as we know it can only attain a certain level of competence before it annihilates itself.
