Gildas, Actually, the only thing that I can confirm is that he was the CIA's media relations liaison in 2004, when I contacted them. I presume he was serious about his job, but I have no idea what his level of seniority was. In terms of my point about what Karl said to me, I think you misunderstood. Karl had no specific comment about Brandon, per se (I doubt that he even knew him) - rather, his comment was simply that all calls made to the CIA are monitored (and probably recorded), even one like mine. This didn't come as a surprise to me, partly because I'm not as naive as Karl suspected (although his tongue was firmly planted in his cheek on that point), and partly because of my personal experience years ago with security checks when I was employed by the RCMP as a low level special constable. The things they already knew about my contacts with various diplomats whislt I was working at United Nations seminars in college, especially from South Africa and the USSR, were pretty thorough. Needless to say, the intelligence agencies are accumulators of as much information as they can lay their hands on, no matter how trivial we might think it is. In Brandon's case, it seems he had a personal motivation beyond his official duties when talking to someone like me who expressed an interest in, or knowledge of, the UFO phenomenon. Namely, he was mining us for ideas for his book. >But the question remains: why did he come out with such a >curious "revelation"? The answer is fairly simple, and hardly surprising - to sell books. In the grand scheme of things, I suspect that the CIA has more important things to worry about than stories made up by Brandon about what he claims to have seen in his time in their employ.
