Gildas, You call impossible staging an event for Arnold's benefit. I guess you haven't been to any magic shows in Vegas to know that you can convince the human mind of pretty much anything with enough proper planning. You focus on the existence of superior planes yet it was missiles that the Russians had more to worry about, especially with a nuclear weapon on board. If you bother to read my paper on the Project Seal disinformation campaign, it appears that the goal was to convince the Russians that there was a secret project they knew nothing about that was an aerial platform (not necessarily a plane). Roswell doesn't make sense PERIOD from the standpoint that the 509th Bomber Group as the only nuclear capable unit in the World at the time knew better than anyone to keep their mouths shut when it came to matters of national security. Putting out a press release was absolutely ludicrous! But then again if your goal is to "make the news", which also appeared to be the goal of Maury Island, than it doesn't matter if the "News" was ludicrous or not. What is the old saying "Bad publicity is better than no publicity". From a code breaking point of view, it simply didn't matter. It makes no sense to you, because you are seeing it through a different set of lenses than I am. James Listen to 'Strange Days...
