Subject: Prediction - Use Theory Or Evidence?

Hello List,

Maybe we've seen this dichotomy before without remarking on it -
today it registered.

Steven's apparently reasonable conclusion at:

"Given the size of the Universe I would agree that meeting some
sort of AI life form may be more likely than some organic life
form that relies on an organic process support as it travels
through space. That being said, I'm not prepared to reject the
many anomalies we often see discussed here."

and Jason's equally 'reasonable' forecast at:

"A 'manafactured organic being', such as to produce a workforce,
may have little to no use in deep space. However, if an advanced
A.I. were to begin to operate in our solar system or on our
planet it may decide to use our DNA and/or tissues to create a
workforce to assist it in the achievement of it's goals. Any
such beings would need to possess cybernetic implants, as in be
cyborgs, so that the A.I. could manipute or control the beings.
In effect, these beings would be extensions of the A.I."

made me realize that both are 'reasonable' because they reflect
what we know - based on present human science-theory.

However if we put theory to one side and instead look at
evidence, an entirely different picture emerges. Here's some
relevant quotes from the past:

"From all above we should soon anticipate 'instantaneous
communication' and, with 'inertial shielding' then f.t.l
propulsion is easy - with no mass effect consequences. Once
you've conquered 'inertia' then Relativity is dead. (No wonder
Einstein wouldn't have been pleased.)"

followed by:

"In the 'Black Box' video Dr Richard Haines - ex-NASA - admits
modern science doesn't know how the inertial compasses/gyros of
an airliner were affected by a nearby UFO.

He said, "We can't do that...". Apparently they can. And that
means they are not limited to light speed; anyone who can
control 'inertia' is immune to the mass-increase effect of
Relativity theory."

Nb. That comment from Dr Haines is in the final minute of this
video short, from about 7 mins 48 secs in; or at

BTW - haven't chased-up the quotes, but we've also seen that
"matter-transmission" is perfectly feasible under quantum rules
- provided you have the hardware and software, and realize/
accept that it's going to be a destructive-copying method, at
least for conscious organic beings who want to retain their
