I asked former astronaut Ed Mitchell for his view on this issue.

For what it's worth he said: "I don't recall any cosmic ray
experiences though we talked about them.

"Re pilots and UFOs: Military pilots became very frustrated over
the years, after reporting such incidents and being told to keep
quiet about it. Eventually we just stopped reporting. It was too
frustrating. I did not personally have such experiences."
