Rather the craft is usually touching the ring or is just outside it. Perhaps this design, where the ring edge originates at the craft, would get around the problem referred to by Dr. Alcubierre. "At speeds larger than the speed of light, the front of the warp bubble cannot be reached by any signal from within the ship," he said.
