From: Isaac Koi <isaackoi.nul> Date: Fri, 22 Mar 2013 13:56:24 +0000 Archived: Sat, 23 Mar 2013 06:12:01 -0400 Subject: Geipan Documents - Searchable PDF Database I'm sure other researchers have already converted Geipan's two CSV database files into better looking Excel/PDF files than me but, since I haven't seen anyone post them, I've uploaded my own fast and rudimentary conversions at the link below: https://www.box.com/s/86zhz0z00yn4d6c33q08 I think that (in particular) the two PDF spreadsheets may be useful to some researchers. I understand from Edoardo Russo that Robert Alessandri has previously created some form of spreadsheet and circulated it on French mailing list (but I've not seen it posted on English language forums). Also, Jerome Beau has previously imported the Geipan CSV files into Google Spreadsheets, then included the result in http://rr0.org/org/eu/fr/cnes/geipan My own quick and dirty conversions are all I need for my purposes, so I haven't sought to resolve a few issues with them (e.g. the importing of about 20 of the rows resulted in information being in the wrong columns, which I could resolve manually by searching for the "|" character). Since I'm sure this has all been done by other researchers already, I haven't sought to do this. Anyway, I thought these Excel and PDF versions of the Geipan databases (and the two combined searchable case files) might be useful to some others. The process I used to create the Excel and PDF files was to: (1) Download the two relevant CSV files using the links below: http://tinyurl.com/ce3cjgr http://tinyurl.com/bqp9bqr (2) Open Excel (3) Create a new blank document in Excel (4) Click on import from text file and load one of the CSV database (5) Set the options to indicate use of a delimiter and set the delimiter to be "Other" and input | (6) Set cell alignment formatting options to wrap text (7) Alter column widths to narrow each of them (8) Save the Excel file (9) Print as PDF, setting option to landscape, no margins and fit all columns on page I've also uploaded a searchable PDF version of the Geipan files on the Trans-En-Provence (January 1981) incident for an item I'm writing about the Rockefeller Briefing Document (which has a chapter devoted to that incident). Incidentally, the relevant chapter of the Rockefeller Briefing Document (a document endorsed by CUFOS, FUFOR and MUFON as including "the best available evidence from open sources") devoted to the Trans-En-Provence incident is at pages 65-70 of the version available online at: http://tinyurl.com/aq26gsf Since I happened to be looking at the Geipan website for files on the Trans-En-Provence incident, I also created a searchable PDF version of the documents relating to the Cegry-Pontiose (November 1979) "abduction"/hoax (which I have also uploaded to the link above).
